Chabala, Dudar, King, Maicon Santos denied contract option by DC United

DC United have declined the option of four players as they look to alter the playing roster during the MLS offseason.

Defenders Mike Chabala and Emiliano Dudar, midfielder Stephen King, and forward Maicon Santos have all been waived by the Washington club following the 2012 campaign.

28-year old Chabala was acquired in August from Portland Timbers and played three times for DC whilst 31-year old Argentine defender Dudar joined DC from Swiss club Young Boys at the start of the year and made just 11 appearances.

26-year old midfielder King spent almost three seasons at RFK Stadium, playing close to 50 times, and 28-year old Brazilian attacker Santos joined in January after departing FC Dallas, scoring seven goals in 26 appearances.

Chabala, King and Santos are all eligible for the MLS Re-Entry Draft.
