Cerny happy with Spurs role

Radek Cerny insists he's happy at Tottenham working as Paul Robinson's understudy.

The Czech Republic goalkeeper told the club's website: "It's always hard if you don't play but when I came to England, I knew I was here as a number two, I knew my position.

"I am a professional and it's important for me that I continue that way, that I'm fit, I keep away from injuries, that I enjoy every day in training and that I'm ready when called upon. I do enjoy it and that's important."

Radek felt our fifth-placed finish was the icing on the cake after competing on all three domestic fronts and reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup last term.

"Everyone is happy because we're in Europe again," he added. "We played well in every cup competition including Europe, finished well in the Premiership and played lots of games. It was another good season for us and one we can look to build on again next season."
