Central Coast's Simon to play 100th A-League in GF

Central Coast Mariners striker Matt Simon will notch up his 100th A-League appearance in Sunday's A-League Grand Final.

The 25-year old has been with the Mariners since the second season of the competition in 2006/07 and has been a brilliant servant of the club thus far.

Against the Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium, he will run out onto the pitch for his milestone match and has his fingers crossed that he can experience a Premiership victory on his big day.

"I didn't think I was going to get there this year, there was a bit of banter going around with the boys in saying I wasn't going to, but it's a good feeling to have got there," he said.

"I haven't really thought about it too much this week, I have just been concentrating on the big game but it is special to play your 100th in a Grand Final.

"At the moment we can only imagine what it is going to feel like but hopefully we can put in a good performance to get the result we want and bring that trophy home. I'm sure that'd be a good feeling for a long time to come."

In those 99 matches he has played, Simon has scored 29 goals with 11 of those coming this season to help his hometown club into the 2010/11 playoff.
