Central Coast's Simon to miss two weeks

Central Coast Mariners striker Matt Simon is expected to miss around two weeks with ligament damage in his knee.

The club's leading scorer this season with 11, Simon was involved in a heavy challenge during last night's 1-1 draw with Melbourne Heart and had to be replaced in the 35th minute by Adam Kwasnik.

Mariners coach Graham Arnold said the 25-year old would most likely miss two weeks but more will be known when he has a scan on Monday.

"Probably (out for) a couple of weeks, but the positive with 'Simmo' is that he he's a very fit boy and he recovers from injuries very quickly so we'll keep our fingers crossed," Arnold said.

"He'll have a lot of treatment this week and hopefully recover quickly."

The Mariners next meet Gold Coast United on Wednesday night before hosting Newcastle Jets on Sunday in their final regular season match.
