Ceccoli, 33, has agreed to terms with the club for the remainder of the current A-League campaign.

"Alvin's recruitment for the remainder of this campaign is a sure fire statement of how serious we are about success in season three," said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.

"We are of course devastated by the season ending injury suffered by Dean Heffernan a fortnight ago and remain committed to getting Dean back on the park as soon as possible, however, in the meantime, we are also very committed to seriously challenging for silverware this season and see Alvin's signature as a very positive step in regards to this.

"I look forward to seeing Alvin wearing the yellow and navy of the Mariners for the remainder of this season, hopefully in time for Sunday's match in Perth, and I have no doubt that he will contribute significantly to our already impressive line up which is most capable of claiming both the Hyundai A-LeaguePremiership and Championship."
