Celtic visit to Australia more than just a match

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell says the club's mid-July visit to Australia is more than just a one-off match. The famous Scottish club will play a pre-season match against A-League club Brisbane Roar on July 12 at Suncorp Stadium, but Lawwell has other plans for the trip down under.

The club's new boss, Tony Mowbray will be taking coaches with him for a series of free coaching sessions as well as a Talent ID Program.

"The visit is not just about playing one match," he said.

"We're fortunate we have millions of fans worldwide and a great level of support in Australia.

"There is obviously a high level of interest in the trip and we felt it important to give something back to the supporters.

"Celtic have always been much more than a club and we pride ourselves in a strong charitable and community ethos.

"As we have done at home, through our community courses, we aim through football to promote positive sporting attitudes, healthy living and bring people together through sport.

"We are sure these courses in Australia will achieve these objectives.

"During our visit we also have a number of supporters events in Australia so we are looking forward to meeting some of our fans who perhaps do not see the team as much as they would like."
