Celtic skipper Brown determined to make Scottish Cup

Celtic captain Scott Brown says he is eager to get back to fitness in time for the Scottish Cup next month.

The 27-year old midfielder is currently sidelined by a hip problem but is determined to prove his fitness so he can help the Hoops take on Hibernian at Hampden Park on May 26.

Brown has recently been unavailable for big games for both club and country and is desperate not to miss the chance to hold the Scottish Cup aloft.

"I missed the Barca (Champions League group stage) game and also Scotland versus Spain, which was gutting," he said.

"It's a nightmare missing out, but I suppose it's part and parcel of football. You get injuries during a season.

"I'm afraid when I do it, it tends to be big games.

"Barcelona wasn't because I was injured. I was sick the night before and could hardly get out of my bed on the day of the game.

"I would love to play in every game, it's just sometimes your body says no.

"But hopefully I can get back for the Cup Final because that's one I really want to be involved in."
