Despite being four years younger, Victor Wanyama had more of an influence on his junior teams than older brother McDonald Mariga had according to Kamukunji High School sports administrator Sophie Makoba.
20-year old Wanyama has started brilliantly with Scottish giants Celtic with his performances earning him the SPL Young Player of the Month award for December and according to Makoba, he was always going to follow in the footsteps of 24-year old Mariga who joined Inter Milan in 2010 and is currently on loan with Real Sociedad.
"They are very similar in nature, both calm and quiet, not hyper at all.
"But Victor always had a big influence on his brothers. There are nine in the family - Victor has three behind him, two sisters and another brother, Harry, who was also at Kamukunji.
"They come from a very sporting family, their dad Noah was an international footballer for Kenya and their mum Mildred was a basketball player.
"When McDonald began to be successful playing in Europe he bought his mother a beautiful house.
"He has come back to the school since he left and he and Victor are wonderful examples for us to show the boys who are here.
"Victor hasn't been back to see us yet but I'm sure he will in the future.""McDonald's four years older than Victor, but Victor used to have more influence on the team," Sophie told SunSport.
