Celtic's Socceroo striker Scott McDonald has promised Australian fans of the famous Scottish club they won't be disappointed when the Hoops take on Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium on July 12.

First revealed by The Courier-Mail last month, Celtic's visit to Brisbane has been confirmed by the State Government.

McDonald -- whose manager and FIFA match agent Lou Sticca was pivotal in bringing the Glasgow giants to Queensland -- has vowed the contest will be a "great game'' between two top clubs.

"I'm delighted to be coming home to Australia, with Celtic, to take on Brisbane Roar,'' McDonald said.

"We're all looking forward to the game in Brisbane and it'll be a great opportunity for our fans in Australia to cheer on the team.''

The two teams will play for the TransLink Cup in the "Roar Against Racism'' charity clash at Suncorp Stadium.

"Celtic is more than just a football club and tackling discrimination in all its forms has always been important to the club since it was formed,'' McDonald said.

"Everyone at Celtic is delighted to support the excellent `Roar Against Racism' campaign.''

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh said that the "world game'' was the "best vehicle'' to send the message that racism was unacceptable.

"We made a strong case and -- to their credit -- the canny Scots decided that the most attractive proposal was to play at Suncorp Stadium,'' the Premier said.

It will be the third "Roar Against Racism'' clash.

The Roar's previous opponents in those clashes were Supersport United from South Africa and the Brazilian club Palmeiras.-The Courier-Mail.
