Celtic players back ban for Arsenal striker Eduardo: He didn't care

Celtic fullback Danny Fox is happy to see Arsenal striker Eduardo charged by UEFA for diving.

"I am pleased that he could be banned because that will set an example to other players who do this and send out a message to others out there who do this," ex-Everton trainee Fox said. "It's cheating. It was never a penalty and Artur Boruc was so angry at half-time and so he should be when you see it on television.

"He [Eduardo] conned the referee at a crucial stage in the tie. If that had not happened, we could have got to the interval still at 0-0 and who knows what would have happened. It is right to set an example and for Uefa to say that it does not matter who you are, you will be punished.

"Every player wants to play in Champions League games and for anyone to miss a vital match through cheating is like cheating your own team-mates - not just us - as well if they get banned for diving.

"I don't know Eduardo but I don't think he will be too bothered [by a suspension]. You could seen the reaction from him. He knew we were angry but just brushed it off as if it was nothing - but it was massive to us. That happens a lot in European football.

"The television showed that Artur Boruc never touched him. We cannot get anything from this, but I hope the referee will look at it all again and realise he made a massive mistake."
