Ivan Ramis' £2.5m transfer to Celtic collapsed because of his agent's demands. The Hoops were also not convinced the player really wanted to sign. Celtic agreed a fee with Real Mallorca and Ramis initially accepted a three-year deal and a £25,000-per-week salary, but the deal collapsed when Javier Diaz, his representative, demanded a bigger slice of the transfer fee. Celtic refused to up their bid and Mallorca were unwilling to reduce their cut.
"A transfer deal doesn't end just when the two clubs agree on a fee," Diaz said. "Other parties come into play, too. Ivan is happy to remain at Mallorca for the time being."
A Mallorca spokesman added: "Unfortunately for everyone involved, the deal could not be completed. Ivan wanted to sign for Celtic, he saw it as a good opportunity. It was a shame that we had only one day to do business. If Celtic's party had arrived a couple of days earlier, perhaps we could all have come to an agreement."
