Celtic flexed their muscle in the Scottish Premier League with a 5-1 drubbing of Dundee United at Parkhead. Anthony Stokes and Gary Hooper both scored in the first half, either side of Johnny Russell's 31st minute leveler, before Ki Sung-yeung, Joe Ledley and James Forrest all contributed in the second term to keep Neil Lennon's side second on the SPL table.
But the win was soured when Hooper limped off after the hour-mark and was taken up the tunnel on a stretcher.
Elsewhere in Scotland, reigning champions Rangers eventually overcame Inverness Caledonian Thistle 2-0 thanks to second half goals from Nikica Jelavic (who also missed a penalty) and Maurice Edu.
Both sides ended the match with ten men following the 59th minute dismissal of Caley's Ross Tokely whilst Edu received a second yellow with 15 minutes remaining whilst 'Gers loan signing Kyle Bartley was forced off with injury just after the half-hour mark.
Motherwell stayed at the top of the table with a 1-0 victory at St Mirren thanks to Tom Hateley's injury time winner, Dunfermline Athletic beat St Johnstone 1-0 at McDiarmid Park and Heart of Midlothian scored a 3-0 win over Aberdeen with a goal from Arvydas Novikovas and a double to John Sutton.
