Celtic given clearance to sign Man City's Guidetti

Scottish champions have been given special dispensation from FIFA to sign John Guidetti from Manchester City.

The Hoops went after the 22-year old Swedish striker late in the transfer window but were unable to complete a loan transfer prior to the window slamming shut.

Celtic appealed to FIFA regarding the potential loan of former Feyenoord loan ace Guidetti and the season-long loan has now been approved to go ahead.

A FIFA spokesperson said: "After checking the documentation received and the information contained in the international transfer matching system managed by FIFA TMS, the Scottish Football Association was informed today that the envisaged loan deal may proceed."

Guidetti, who had a loan spell at Stoke City last season, admitted he was looking forward to getting some regular game time after getting through a tough pre-season with the English champs.

"I feel in great shape as it's been great to get a long pre-season with City. But I miss getting to play games, it's what I live for," he said.
