Celtic gets the better of Melbourne Victory

Celtic have tonight defeated Melbourne Victory 1-0 in an international friendly at AAMI Park. The Scottish giants ended their three-game pre-season tour with a deserved win in front of 20,794 but the score could have been more if it wasn't for new Victory goalkeeper Tando Velaphi who made a string of vital saves.

The former Perth Glory gloveman made saves from attempts from Kris Commons twice, Beram Kayal, Giorgios Samaras twice and a few others whilst Danny Allsopp had good chances in either half but was unable to put them away.

The Victory looked good early in the second half with new signings Jean Carlos Solorzano and Marco Rojas providing some chances but it was Celtic captain Scott Brown who broke the deadlock when he hit a Commons corner into the back of the net from distance with the help from a deflection with 12 minutes remaining.

The Hoops would have been happy to finish their down under tour with a win after losing 1-0 to Central Coast Mariners and then downing Perth Glory 2-0 on the weekend.
