Celtic have secured the 2011/12 Scottish Premier League with a barnstorming 6-0 win against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park today.
The Hoops were ruthless in disposing of Killie as Neil Lennon's men exacted revenge for the League Cup defeat just under three weeks ago with four goals in the first half before two late efforts kicked off the celebrations.
Charlie Mulgrew opened the scoring in the eighth minute when headed home Ki Sung-yeung's cross from the left before Glenn Loovens came up with a header of his own from Mulgrew's rightwing cross in the 17th minute.
The 35th minute saw in-form defender Mulgrew add a third when he struck from the left side of the area about 18 yards out and it was 4-0 prior to the break when Gary Hooper fired another neat ball from Mulgrew who had a hand in all four goals in the first half.
The goals dried up in the second term but there was still time for two more when Joe Ledley got in on the act by finishing a clever ball from Anthony Stokes with two minutes remaining before Hooper grabbed his brace in the dying stages to round out the rout.
The victory put the Hoops 21 points clear of Old Firm rivals Rangers, enabling them to stitch up their 43rd Scottish league championship with five matches still to play.
