Cech heaps praise on Arsenal legend - 'He was calm and made important saves'

Petr Cech has hailed former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman as 'special'.

Seaman enjoyed a wonderful 13-year spell with Arsenal from 1990 until 2003 and is considered as one of the finest ever goalkeepers to have played for the Gunners.

Current Arsenal number one Cech is a big fan of Seaman's abilities and has stated that the former England international was a 'special' player.

Speaking to Arsenal Player, Cech said: "His personality [made him special]. When you saw him playing, he was not a goalkeeper who looks spectacular or flies right and left in the goal.

"He's not all over the place, he was just someone who was calm and made important saves at important times. I first really noticed him during Euro 96 here in England because the Czech Republic were doing well and progressing.

"In the end Czech Republic played in the final against Germany and as the tournament went on there was a lot of excitement from the England supporters and everybody was saying, 'This is the team who can finally win the European Championship'. It started with David Seaman and if you go through the ranks they had some brilliant players."
