Cech: Chelsea will need to be wary of Drogba

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is well aware of the dangers Didier Drogba can cause on a football pitch.

As the Blues get set to take on Galatasaray at Istanbul's Turk Telekom Arena in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg on Wednesday night, Cech has highlighted former teammate Drogba as the main danger.

The Ivory Coast international has been with Galatasaray since January 2013, following a successful spell at Stamford Bridge, so Cech is well-versed to comment on the ability of the powerful 35-year old.

"It's a new situation for us," Cech said.

"Didier was with us for nine years and a huge part of our team, a successful team, in that time. It's the first time he'll be playing against us.

"We know how important he is for Galatasaray, how big a player he is, so we have to be careful how we play against him and make sure he doesn't score."

As for the meeting in Istanbul, Cech was eagerly anticipating playing in front of the fanatical Gala' supporters who are known all around Europe.

"I'm excited because it's a play-off game in the Champions League, and that's always a big challenge for every player," he added.

"Everyone knows the atmosphere here. I've never played here myself, it's my first time - so let's see."
