New Sampdoria coach Alberto Cavasin is seeking passion from his players.

Cavasin was drafted in last week after Domenico Di Carlo's dismissal and fell to a 1-0 defeat against Catania on his first game in charge.

"There are seven teams involved in the relegation battle and they are all crammed together," said Cavasin.

"I think the final verdict will only be delivered after the last game of the season."

The Blucerchiati finished four last term, but are now sixth from bottom and only three points clear of the relegation zone.

"We are ready for anything and will fight tooth and nail to the very end. I am not interested in the table or the fixture list. We just have to focus on getting as many points as possible."
