Cattermole confident Sessegnon has turned the corner at Sunderland

Sunderland skipper Lee Cattermole feels that Stephane Sessegnon's recent hard work in the training ground will shine through on the pitch.

The Benin ace netted his first goal of the season for the Black Cats with a fine finish in the 3-1 victory over Fulham on Sunday and Cattermole is confident he is about to kick into gear following his brilliant form last campaign.

"Sessegnon has worked ever so hard all season and the last few weeks he's been getting better and better - it was fantastic to see him get a goal and see a big lift," he told the club's official website.

"He'd just come inside before that and played a pass which went about three yards, so it shows he's got confidence and a real good character about him - he's taken it inside again and smashed it in the top corner.

"The lads are chuffed for him."
