Catania striker Plasmati defends short-dropping act

Catania striker Gianvito Plasmati's decision to drop his shorts in front of Torino keeper Matteo Sereni during the match-winning free-kick may still land him in hot water.

Referee Pierluigi Collina has said he will investigate the incident as an 'unsporting act' but the player himself has defended his actions.

"It was just a little prank and it certainly wasn't me lacking respect for the opponents or the fans," Plasmati insisted on Rei TV.

"The credit for the goal goes completely to Mascara. He produced the magic, while his teammates in the wall just created some space.

"What I did isn't against the rules. Was it an obscene act? No, I wasn't naked," he concluded.
