Catania have revealed Fulham tried with a bid for new AC Milan signing Maxi Lopez.

Maxi signed for Milan last night.

"We opted to loan the player to Milan rather than selling him to Fulham who made us a €9m offer," said Catania chief Pietro Lo Monaco.

"We want to have a good relationship with Milan and I have great respect for Galliani.

"We'll give Milan the player on loan with an option to buy, but I won't tell you the costs of the operation."
