Catania sports chief Pietro Lo Monaco has weighed into Walter Sabatini's departure from Inter Milan and Suning.

Suning announced yesterday that the sporting director had had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

Lo Monaco told RMC: "Sabatini has never been a general manager, a managing director and he has never had control of clubs in a general sense, he has always been a sporting director, good, but a sports director, which is the same role as Ausilio.

"If the group intends to take a manager to replace Sabatini I think they will replace him with a general manager, because the sports director already is there, it would be an overlap of tasks."
