Aston Villa captain Samir Carruthers is ready for tonight's NextGen final against Chelsea.

Carruthers is set to lead Villa out at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia in Lake Como for Monday night's all-English final against Chelsea.

"It is great that we are in the final and probably a lot of outsiders didn't believe we'd make it this far," he told Villa's website.

"But we've got good team belief and if we didn't believe in ourselves we wouldn't be here.

"I believe we can do it and we are here now so we've just got to prove to the rest that we can win this.

"When I was a first year we played Chelsea in the Youth Cup final and we lost narrowly so there is a little bit of rivalry.

"But it should be a good game so hopefully we can do it."
