Carney biding his time with new club Blackpool

Blackpool recruit David Carney isn't bothered that he has to bide his time before being handed a start at his new club. The 26-year old winger joined the Seasiders in the summer transfer window from Dutch champions FC Twente but admits he is not yet frustrated about sitting on the bench at Bloomfield Road.

''I'm all right about it actually. Playing in Holland and winning the Dutch league and then playing in the World Cup and getting a move to a Premier League club - I don't think it's too frustrating,'' he said.

''I've just got to keep working hard, bide my time and when I get it, I've got to take it … I've become a better player over the past 18 months for sure. I've spoken with [Blackpool manager Ian Holloway] and I'm sure I'm going to be a big part this season so it's just a matter of learning the way he wants to play and I look forward to it.''

Carney is in Sydney for Australia's international friendly with Paraguay on Saturdayand knows he has to take his chance with both hands.

''Obviously I'm the one there at the minute and I've got to keep playing well every time I'm called upon for the Socceroos and I'll always give 100 per cent,'' he added. ''I still know there's a hell of a lot more in me to give so hopefully I can prove that I'm able to give a little bit more because I know I can lift a little bit.''
