Peter Whittingham says it's critical for Cardiff City they keep hold of manager Malky Mackay.

Mackay has been unsettled by events inside the boardroom at the CCS.

"Look at how well he has done for our club. He took Cardiff City into the Premier League and we've made a great start as a squad," said Whittingham.

"We need to keep hold of him and hope he feels happy here. We want the manager to stay for a long time."
