Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay is eyeing Manchester United striker Kiko Macheda.
The Mirror says Mackay, who nurtured United's promising midfield talent Tom Cleverley during a loan spell at former club Watford, said: "We are fishing in a small pond in terms of who can come in on loan and affect the team. I want a striker who can come in and hit the ground running into the first team or at least force his way onto the bench..
"United, like many others, are a club who are still in the Carling Cup and you saw the other night that they are playing a lot of their talented youngsters..
"Things change at Premier League clubs on a daily and weekly basis in terms of when the youngsters are allowed out."
