Cardiff City have beaten German giants Borussia Dortmund to the signing of Scott Malone.
WalesOnline says the 23-year-old left back was in demand as his contract was running down at Millwall and today he became a Bluebird, despite late interest from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund, who lost the 2013 Champions League final to rivals Bayern Munich, are currently one place off the bottom of the German League and registered their interest in Malone shortly before he elected to stay in the UK and agreed to join Cardiff for £100,000.
Cardiff City manager Russell Slade celebrated beating off the unlikely interest by saying: "Several other clubs were in for Scott.
"Borussia Dortmund made strong enquiries about him, while there were other Championship clubs keen.
"We are delighted Scott has signed. He is 6ft 2ins tall, athletic, will give us a lot going forward and defensively. He is a natural left footed who has previously scored five goals in one season."
