Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay is a contender for the Everton job.
The Daily Mail says there is mounting support for Mackay within the Goodison Park boardroom and a growing belief his appointment would have parallels to the way David Moyes was poached from Preston 11 years ago.
Like Moyes, 41-year old Mackay is an up-and-coming Scottish manager with a penchant for working with players on the training ground, and bringing the best out of them, and a burgeoning reputation for producing winning teams on a modest budget.
