Mustapaha Carayol has signed a new contract with Middlesbrough.
The 26-year old Gambian winger has returned from a loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion to put pen to an extension which will keep him at the Riverside Stadium until the summer of 2017.
Carayol was sent to the Seagulls for a short stint in order to get some first team football after recovering from a knee injury which sidelined him for around a year.
Ahead of the promotion play-offs, Boro boss Aitor Karanka said on the club's official website: "I'm very happy.
"It is the best thing because he has recovered from a serious injury and had the opportunity to play some games at Brighton.
"He is now able to play for us in the play-offs. Muzzy has improved with us and can be a very important player for us in the future if he continues in the same way."
Carayol joined the Teessiders from Bristol Rovers in 2012 and has since made 54 appearances, scoring 12 goals.
