CAPITAL ONE CUP - QF: Late West Ham show heaps more misery on Tottenham

West Ham United are through to the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup after beating Tottenham 2-1 at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night.

The Hammers trailed by a goal with ten minutes remaining but scored twice in five minutes to eliminate Spurs just days after they sacked manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Emmanuel Adebayor brilliantly volleyed home a Jermain Defoe cross in the 67th minute and just as it appeared as though Tim Sherwood would oversee a debut victory as boss, Sam Allardyce's side stunned the north London crowd.

Matt Jarvis did well to beat Hugo Lloris at his near post in the 80th minute after receiving a pass from Matt Taylor before Modibo Maiga powerfully headed home Mo Diame's cross in the 85th minute to give the Hammers a memorable win over their London rivals.

West Ham now move into the final four where they face Manchester City in a two-legged semi-final, beginning at the Etihad Stadium in the week commencing January 6 and concluding at Upton Park a fortnight later.
