Fabio Capello is well down the road in talks for the Chelsea job. The Daily Express says negotiations have taken place between Roman Abramovich's intermediaries, led by agent Jorge Mendes, and Capello's representatives.
He has asked for and received a report on the Cobham training base and a £6million-a-year deal could be agreed as early as next week, with further talks planned this weekend.
Capello quit as England coach in February after the FA stripped the captaincy from Chelsea skipper John Terry.
The Italian recently turned down a £17million two-year offer from Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande.
