Fabio Capello has revealed he tried to sign Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi for Juventus.
Capello admits he asked Barca coach Frank Rijjkaard after the 2005 Gamper Trophy.
"At a time when the game was stopped, I approached Frank Rijkaard and said 'you cannot play him (Messi) because you have three foreigners, why not let me take him on-loan to Juventus for a year and then he can come back to you?'" revealed Capello.
"Rijkaard replied 'let's clarify the situation in three or four months and see if we can do it'.
"But then he (Rijkaard) gave Messi his chance "
