Cameron relishing wingback role with Stoke

Geoff Cameron admits he is loving his new role with Stoke City.

The 28-year old American defender has mainly taken up a right-back position for the Potters this season and has been impressive, having a hand in both goals in last week's 2-1 win over Aston Villa.

Prior to the 5-1 Boxing Day loss to Newcastle United, which came courtesy of two questionable red cards to Stoke, the former Houston Dynamo star told Sky Sports that he is loving his current role under Mark Hughes.

"I'm trying to get forward and playing almost like a wing-back. They want me to get involved in the attacks," he said.

"I like that and I think I have stuff to offer in that aspect. I'll keep running up and down - don't forget my job defensively, but offensively as well."

He added of Hughes: "I'm enjoying his style of play. He's a good coach, a player coach. Everybody gets along and he's positive and I think everyone's feeling the vibes off him. We've just got to keep it going."

Following the defeat to the Magpies, the Potters sit 10th on the Premier League table with 21 points from 18 matches.
