Caldwell convinced Wigan will avoid drop

Gary Caldwell has seen enough from his two games with Wigan to be confident the Latics will avoid relegation this season. Caldwell was involved in a 2-0 win at Wolves and Wednesday night's 2-1 loss at Blackburn where he conjured a rare strike.

"It's disappointing to lose, and I'd have taken not scoring if we could have won the game," said the 27 year old.

"It was a big night for us and we could really have moved up the table with a win.

"We're obviously disappointed with the result, but I feel we've more than enough quality in the dressing room to kick on and get enough points to keep us in this league.

"This division is so tight, and if you can put a run together you can find yourself in the top half of the table.

"We know we are capable of doing that, and we just have to put it all together and put it right on the park.

"It's Everton on Saturday who are playing well, but our home form has been good throughout the season and we have to make sure that remains the case on the day.

"We know it's going to be tight between now and the end of the season and we have to put that right and start winning matches."
