Manchester City have confirmed the signing of FC Basle striker Felipe Caicedo.
The 19-year-old forward has sealed his move to the City of Manchester Stadium on a reported four-and-a-half year contract.
The deal struck with Basel is believed to be worth in the region of 7million euros (£5.2million).
A number of clubs were keen to capture Caicedo, with Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Milan and Juventus all linked with a move.
Sven-Goran Eriksson has moved for the striker after allowing Georgios Samaras and Rolando Bianchi to leave the club on loan.
The Ecuador international has tallied 15 caps for his country, scoring twice.
