Cahill nets winner for Everton in Europe

Tim Cahill netted a 77th minute winner as Everton overcame Belarus outfit BATE Borisov 2-1 overnight. The Australian international hoisted a shot over the goalkeeper when the score was locked at 1-1 in the Europa League clash in Belarus after the Toffees found themselves behind in the 16th minute.

But David Moyes' men fought back to first grab an equaliser from the head of Marouane Fellaini in the 68th minute.

Then it was enter Cahill like so many times before, scoring the winner and giving Everton every hope of pushing through to the next stage.

Manager Moyes was happy his charges fought back so doggedly, whilst lauding Cahill.

"It was a really pleasing result considering the number of players who were not available," he said.

"It was a resilient performance, which in the end allowed us to get the victory. I thought we played better in the first half but we were wasteful with our passing.

"BATE scored an excellent goal but we regrouped and managed to get the goals we needed.

"Tim Cahill is always a threat in those kind of situations but he has probably not scored as many goals as he should have done recently.''
