Tim Cahill scored a double overnight but could not help Everton to more than a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa. The Australia international got the Toffees off to a great start in the 23rd minute at Villa Park with a reaction header after a Leighton Baines cross to grab his eighth goal of the season.
Villa managed to equalise fifty minutes later through Gabriel Agbonlahor but Cahill again put Everton in front when he tucked a header away in the 74th minute.
But Everton's hopes of a Europa League finish faded when defender Phil Jagielka knocked an Ashley Young cross into his own net in the 90th minute to give Villa a share of the spoils.
