Cagliari president Cellino mocks Marchini claims

Cagliari president Massimo Cellino has scoffed at claims made by Davide Marchini that teammates Pasquale Foggia had him attacked.

The outcast midfielder has accused Foggia of reacting to a training ground fracas by ordering a violent assault in a bar.

However, Cellino's reaction to Marchini's claims was far from sympathetic as he tried to distance the Rossoblu from the events.

"Why didn't Marchini tell me any of this story?" he bellowed. "I have just heard it now and I'm dumbstruck.

"It's an incredible piece of news, but Cagliari has no role in that. The club can't be held to account for what happens in players' private lives."

Marchini feels that he has been bullied by the club and also claims that he has been exiled from training sessions.

"As for Marchini, it doesn't surprise me that three clubs have terminated his contract and he has changed agent six times," Cellino snarled.

"What is this talk of bullying? Marchini has been advised to return to training so many times. I'm told that the last time he missed training he was outside a club at 5am."
