Cagliari coach Ranieri 'bitter' after Juventus defeat

Cagliari coach Claudio Ranieri admitted frustration after their 2-1 defeat to Juventus.

Alberto Dossena pulled Cagliari back to 2-1 down, but they couldn't find an equaliser late on.

Ranieri said: “There is bitterness over the opening 15 minutes, when we did not do enough, while we worked all week on set play situations and then Juve scored two goals in precisely the way we expected.

“It is disappointing that we were so open for them, we were naïve then. We scored with a header, but there was a defender that had to be beaten in the air. Bremer had nobody within two metres of him and that is unacceptable against a team that is famous for being good on set plays.

“I told my players, I felt bad for reproaching them, as we managed to neutralise most of their counter-attacks and played well, but ultimately we lost. We lost because it is the details that make the difference.

“We knew what we had to do, but were too slow to do it and Juve made the most of that."
