Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick praised Alexander Buttner after the 1-1 draw last night against Bayern Munich.

Buttner was deputising for the suspended Patrice Evra.

Carrick said: "He's played a couple of times over recent of weeks, and that's probably helped him getting back to match fitness. He's done ever so well, and this was a tough test for him but everyone played well. There wasn't really anyone below par and that's what we needed."
