Ashley Barnes is set to undergo knee surgery after a late-season injury with Burnley.
The 25-year old striker anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligament damage in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa on the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday and now faces a lengthy amount of time on the sidelines.
Barnes will have the operation next week before beginning rehabilitation in a bid to play some part next season in the Championship with the Clarets.
Burnley manager Sean Dyche was left to bemoan the Barnes injury which was his club's fourth serious knee issue of the season after similar occurrences to forward Sam Vokes, defender Kevin Long and midfielder Dean Marney..
"They have been innocuous incidents that have ended up with four serious injuries and it's an incredible misfortune," he told the club's official website.
"Obviously it's a big blow and our thoughts are with Ashley, but the irony is that our 'preventable' soft tissue injuries have improved year-on-year.
"To then have four cruciate injuries, you just can't believe it.
"However, Ashley will be looked after. He will undergo surgery next week and we know what a tough lad he is and he will be back on the road to recovery as soon as possible."
