Burnley ponder swap bid for Bristol City midfielder Josh Brownhill

Burnley are weighing up using Nahki Wells in a swap for Bristol City midfielder Josh Brownhill.

The Daily Mail says Burnley have held talks with City over a January move for midfielder Brownhill, 24. He has a £7million release clause in his contract which is active in the summer.

But City are braced for an offer from Burnley this month, while the Championship club are now interested in Wells, who spent the first half of the season on loan at QPR from the Clarets.

Wells is set to be recalled ahead of a January sale with Burnley aware that the 29 year-old's impressive form - 13 goals and three assists in 26 games - makes him a valuable asset.

And a swap involving Brownhill is now being actively discussed.
