Burnley fullback Tyrone Mears says English youngsters would benefit from a spell away from the Premier League.

Mears has rebuilt his career after 12 months away at Olympique Marseille.

He has been one of Burnley's star players this year and said: "It is a good idea for young players to go abroad. It taught me everything. They do it very differently.

"They taught me how to be calm on the ball under pressure and that helped my game massively."
