Burnley boss Kompany: This will be special for Dyche

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany recognises tonight's Carabao Cup tie with Everton will be special for opposite number Sean Dyche.

It will be the first time Dyche has faced Burnley since his dismissal two seasons ago.

Kompany said: "Every time you put your boots on, it's an opportunity to get a reaction. That's how the group must look at it.

“Having a big squad allows us to use players and compete in other competitions and also give time to those players that will want to use soon.

“At the moment, our concern is not the league or the cup, it's about our team showing the teeth we know it has and putting in a strong performance."

Kompany praised Dyche's 10-year tenure a Turf Moor, stating: “I can only imagine how special it will be on the day for him (Dyche) they're always special moments and you can't take those away from the game.

“I've had it before like when we played City and it will be no different for him. But soon we will just be locking into what needs doing for the game and to get the best possible result.

"Burnley is a traditional club and haven't had lots and lots of managers over the years but full credit to his time here, they were overachieving a number of times."
