Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce says reaching Europe will be their target this season.

Newcastle host West Ham for their Premier League opener.

Bruce said, "That has to be the aim (Europe), whether we have enough in depth last year we probably finished top of our league, elite league and then another one.

"Can we add that bit more consistency, can we stay fitter in certain areas?

"We will try slowly to improve on where we finished last year."
