Manchester United played out a disappointing 0-0 draw with Juventus at Old Trafford last night.
Juve will not start their Serie A campaign until the end of the month but they matched United in a tight first half, with neither goalkeeper seriously tested.
Lee Martin was perhaps unlucky not to be awarded a penalty after being brought down by Zdenek Grygera, while Darren Fletcher blazed over from a tight angle on the left.
There were few chances after the break either, although Paul Scholes spurned one glorious opportunity as he headed wide from point-blank range.
United defender Wes Brown insisted at the final whistle there were plenty of positives to take from the game.
"It was a good run-out," Brown told MUTV. "Juventus are a good team and we knew it would be a tough game.
"We managed to get a few of the young lads on and it was good experience for them.
"At this stage of the season itâs all about fitness and getting sharp, and weâve got another game on Sunday as well. Hopefully everyone will be ready for Newcastle on the opening day of the season."
