Brockie happy to already be on Newcastle Jets' scoresheet

Newcastle Jets recruit Jeremy Brockie is delighted he has already got his name on the scoresheet at his new club. The 22-year old forward made his first start for the Jets against Melbourne Heart at EnergyAustralia Stadium on Friday night and marked the occasion with a well-taken goal on the hour-mark in the 1-1 draw.

Brockie said it was a good feeling to get the monkey off the back so quickly and said he planned on scoring many more with the amount of attacking players Branko Culina has in his squad.

"As an attacker you want to come to a club and get on the scoresheet as quickly as you can," he told the Newcastle Herald.

"We have a very attacking set-up here.

"That's the way I like to play the game and the way Branko and the boys want to play as well.

"It's very exciting."

Brockie joined the Jets from North Queensland Fury and although he admits he enjoyed his time there, he felt his game would develop further under Culina.

"I enjoyed it in Townsville but there was lot of uncertainty about whether the club was going to be there, and if it was whether I would be offered a contract," he added.

"As soon as I had a good chat to Branko, he sounded as though he was the right man to take my game to the next level."
