A-League champion's Brisbane Roar are on the verge of being taken over by an Indonesian conglomerate. The club is currently under the provisional control of Football Federation Australia after it ran into financial difficulties a year ago.
The Jakarta-based Bakrie Group has interests in agriculture, real estate, trade, shipping, banking, insurance, media, manufacturing, construction and mining.
It also owns Indonesian Super League club Pelita Jaya.
A Brisbane official confirmed a "fantastic" takeover was "very close" to being finalised while FFA chief executive Ben Buckley said he was confident of a positive outcome to the Brisbane saga.
"We have been talking with a number of parties interested in Brisbane Roar and have been doing so for some time," he said.
"We are very confident that we will resolve the ownership issues in the near future and that it will be a very positive result.
"Originally we hoped to be in a position to transition the ownership before the start of the upcoming season but if that doesn't eventuate we are comfortable taking more time.
"The most important thing is that we get it right and get the right people in in the best interests of the club, its fans and the stability of the entire league."
