Brisbane Roar chief confident crowds will rise

Brisbane Roar chief executive Peter McLennan is confident the crowds at Suncorp Stadium will rise this season.

Just 6,433 people turned out to see the Roar notch up their first win of the season against Central Coast Mariners on Saturday which was the worst crowd in the club's history.

But McLennan was positive about the situation, saying crowds would definitely pick up down the track.

"South-east Queensland is an extremely competitive sporting market," McLennan said yesterday.

"We need to take into consideration the fact our major rival codes are heading towards the finals series of their respective competitions and our own local football family are still actively participating in the concluding stages of their seasons."
