Brisbane Roar goalkeeper Griffin McMaster is ready for his chance to step up to the first team.
The 26-year old has played second-fiddle to Liam Reddy since 2007 but is ready to push to be Frank Farina's number one choice in season 2009/10.
"I feel like my preparation this season is a lot better than my previous two seasons so I'm feeling really good mentally and physically at the moment," he said.
"The first season, I was obviously very raw. Last season I had a groin strain and missed 10 weeks of the pre-season, but this season, touch wood, I've had very little interruption.
"Hopefully I can have a lot more momentum coming into this season than previous seasons.
"I still consider myself young as a goalkeeper," he added. "Twenty-six for an outfield player is probably the prime, but in goalkeeping years I feel I'm very young, so I know I've got a lot to offer.
"This season there's going to be even more expectation because people think I can do the job. But at the end of the day I'm just there to impress myself, so I'll just keep working hard."
